DVA (Department of Veteran Affairs)

DVA (Department of Veteran Affairs)

The DVA has some very special arrangements in place for Veterans.

These arrangements can be accessed by anyone who served with the Australian Defence Force or Defence Force Reserves.

These arrangements include;

  • All of the benefits that Australians are entitled to under the terms of the Medicare and Pharmaceutical Benefits Schedule programs.
  • Non-Liability Health Care Cover

The DVA will pay for the costs of some medical conditions without accepting that these conditions were service-related.

Importantly, Non-Liability Health Care Cover ordinarily extends to cover the reasonable expenses associated with the treatment of mental health conditions, tuberculosis and cancer.

If you are a Veteran, you are entitled to a White Card which allows you (and in many cases your dependents) to access the DVA's Non-Liability Health Care Cover Program.

  • The DVA encourages regular Health Care Assessments, particularly as Veterans and/or their dependants transition to civilian life.
  • The DVA has systems in place to assist Veterans manage common and uncommon service-related medical conditions.

The treatment and compensation for service-related medical conditions is made even easier when these conditions have been accepted by the DVA

  • Gold Cardholders are entitled to life-long treatment of ongoing service-related medical conditions, including quarterly reviews, and detailed GP management Plans, which can be completed by our doctors.
